My server went offline when I tried binding extra IPs?

If your server goes offline when binding IPs you've probably made the mistake of assigning the reserved Network/Broadcast addresses and/or the switch assigned Gateway IP. Please review IP subnetworking documentation and correct your configuration using IPMI connection. Alternately you may ask support to bind your addresses for you.

Example /29 (5 usable IPs) IPv4 subnet: 10.20.30.40/29

Reserved network address: 10.20.30.40
Reserved switch/gateway address: 10.20.30.41
Reserved broadcast address: 10.20.30.47

First usable IP for server/primary IP: 10.20.30.42
Additional usable IPs for server: 10.20.30.43 - 10.20.30.46

Example /28 (13 usable IPs) IPv4 subnet: 192.168.150.144/28

Reserved network address: 192.168.150.144
Reserved switch/gateway address: 192.168.150.145
Reserved broadcast address: 192.168.150.159

First usable IP for server/primary IP: 192.168.150.146
Additional usable IPs for server: 192.168.150.147 - 192.168.150.158
